Vernon E. Cronen (B.A., Ripon College, 1963; M.A., Ph.D., University of Illinois, 1970). Professor Cronen was born a long time ago as you can tell by the picture. He attended graduate school at the University of Illinois, Urbana, after serve as an office in the U.S. Army Intelligence branch. He cam to the University of Massachusetts in 1970. In 1976 he began working with W. Barnett Pearce on the theory, Coordinated Management of Meaning. He is coauthor with W. Barnett Pearce of the book, Communication, Action and Meaning: The Construction of Social Realities. He is author or coauthor of numerous chapters and articles. Professor Cronen has been an invited presenter in various countries. In 1982 he began working with the Kensington Consultation Centre, London and continues to do so. Professor Cronen is also Director of the Department of Communication's Center for the Study of Communication. He is married to Myrna Cronen and has one daughter.
