Walking Works @ Baylor University
The Office of Compensation & Benefits is pleased to provide "Walking Works" – a fun, easy, and healthy program adapted from Blue Cross Blue Shield. This program is co-sponsored by Campus Recreation; Compensation & Benefits; Health, Human Performance & Recreation; Excercise, Sports & Nutrition Lab; and the Center for Excercise, Nutrition & Preventive Health Research.
-
What is Walking Works? A self-paced walking program in which participants simply wear a pedometer that tracks the steps they would take in a normal day.
-
How does it work? Each participant receives an automated e-mail each Monday morning. Participants click on a link that allows them to simply enter their steps that week. It also includes the cumulative total (for the month), and compares them to the average number of steps other walkers have taken.
-
What does it cost? Each pedometer will cost the participant $8, just pennies compared to the benefits of better health.
**If you are either unable to walk, or walk very little because you instead primarily run, swim, bike, etc., please see our Step Conversions. click here
Should you have any questions, please call the Office of Compensation & Benefits at ext. 2218.
