The Parchman Endowed Lectures welcomes Dr. Geoffrey Wainwright, the Robert Earl Cushman Professor Emeritus of Christian Theology at Duke Divinity School on October 9th and 10th. The title of his lecture series is: "Faith, Hope and Love: The Ecumenical Trio of Virtues."

The echoing voice of Rev. Vashti McKenzie reverberated through the regular Tuesday chapel service for Truett Seminary students at the Paul Powell Chapel.

McKenzie is the first woman to hold the position of bishop in the African Methodist Episcopal Church. Her initial election to the 18th Episcopal District in 2000, which McKenzie called "breaking the stained glass barrier," was the culmination of a long history of women pastors in the church. McKenzie has since been elected to preside over the 13th Episcopal District and she currently serves as the bishop of the 10th district of the church, which consists of the entire state of Texas.

Vashti McKenzie -- a former journalist and broadcaster who broke the "stained-glass ceiling" when she was elected the first female bishop in the African Methodist Episcopal Church's 200-year history - will speak on Tuesday, Aug. 28, at George W. Truett Theological Seminary at Baylor University.

WACO, Texas (Aug. 10, 2012)- As summer nears an end, nearly 500 Baylor students will receive their diplomas during Baylor University's annual summer commencement at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, at the Ferrell Center. Baylor's George W. Truett Theological Seminary will hold its commencement ceremony for 32 graduates at 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10, at the seminary's Powell Chapel.
