A native of East Texas, Dr. Michael Godfrey is an ordained minister with thirty-two years of experience in Christian ministry. He has served as Music Minister, Youth Minister, Associate Pastor, Minister of Education and Program, and interim pastor in churches in Texas.
Currently, Dr. Godfrey serves as the Executive Director and Chairman of the Board of True Course Ministries, Inc., based in Robinson, TX, which specializes in customized mentoring and consulting. The mentoring work of True Course Ministries received the 2007 Malcolm Knowles Award for Outstanding Adult Education Program given by the American Association of Adult and Continuing Education.
Godfrey has led numerous churches in Texas in experiences of growth, both in quality and numerically. He serves as adjunct lecturer in Christian Education at the Master's level and as an independent contractor to the Doctor of Ministry program at the George W. Truett Theological Seminary at Baylor University. Godfrey has given leadership to a variety of community and denominational projects and organizations. He is a mentor, life coach, conference leader, lecturer, and consultant on the local, state, and national levels. His writing is included in numerous publications, with articles currently in press or under review.
Dr. Godfrey holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree cum laude from Baylor University, a Master of Arts degree in Religious Education (1981) and a Doctor of Ministry degree (church and education major) (1991) both from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He also holds the Doctor of Philosophy degree in Educational Psychology (Adult Education/Mentoring/Creativity and Problem-solving) from the School of Education at Baylor University (2005). He has extensive continuing education in human relations, group dynamics, leadership, conflict management, critical incident stress management, and parent education.
Dr. Godfrey has been named as Distinguished Alumnus of Hallsville High School, named to Outstanding Young Men in America, listed in Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America, Who's Who in the Southwest, and Who's Who in Religion. Michael and Susan, his wife, reside in Robinson and have two grown children, Jonathan of Nashville, TN, and Lauren.
