Pillars: A Celebration of Senior Adults

Senior Adult Conference

May 24-26, 2010

The motto of Baylor University is Pro Ecclesia, Pro Texana, "for the church, for Texas." In many and varied ways, Baylor University and George W. Truett Theological Seminary have sought to embody that commitment. It is within this tradition that Truett Seminary is excited to announce a new event, one that we believe will continue to draw new and old friends to campus.

The conference name, "Pillars: A Celebration of Seniors," is a reminder of the pillars that stand in Independence, Texas, Baylor's birthplace, representing a rich history of tradition, commitment, and shared purpose. The conference name also acknowledges the ways in which so many of our seniors continue to serve as significant pillars within their own congregations and within society at large. This three-day event will be filled with times of worship, fellowship, seminars, and even for campus tours and activities. In addition, each day will conclude with a Dr Pepper float!

Outstanding speakers will be sharing at each general session:
  • Bill O'Brien, former executive vice president with the Foreign Mission Board and past president of the American Society of Missiology
  • Paul Powell, Dean Emeritus of George W. Truett Theological Seminary
  • Alan Lefever, Director of the Texas Baptist Historical Collection and adjunct professor of Church History and Baptist Identity at George W. Truett Theological Seminary
  • Grant Teaff, former Baylor head football coach and executive director of the American Football Coaches Association
  • Cindy Wiles, executive director of Global Connection Partnership Network
This is the start of a new an exciting tradition at Truett Seminary. We hope you will make plans to spend a few days with us on the banks of the Brazos.
