Gallaway (250w x 198h, 37 KB)

TOHA President Shelly Kelly (left) presented the first Mary Faye Barnes Community History Award to Alecya Gallaway (right) on October 24, 2000, in the Moore Memorial Library in Texas City. Appropriately, the award was given to Gallaway during a meeting of the Galveston County Historical Commission, the very group Mary Faye Barnes had chaired for twenty years. TOHA recognized Gallaway for her outstanding work on a project titled "History of the Scientific Management of Shrimp in the Galveston Bay Area," an oral history project of the Environmental Institute of Houston at the University of Houston-Clear Lake.
