Ph.D  in EEES

The Ph.D. in EEES is based on education and research collaboration among the Departments of Biology, Chemistry & Biochemistry, Environmental Science, Geology, and Statistics at Baylor University.

Incoming candidates are expected to enter the program with a Master's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Ecology, Environmental Science, Geology, Physical Science, or a related discipline. Candidates with a Bachelor's degree will be accepted provided that they demonstrate research experience in their application. Student's without a Master's degree may apply to Baylor's master's graduate programs in Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Sciences, or Geology as a step towards application in the EEES doctoral program. The step helps students interact with Fellows and enhance technical skills in their area of interest prior to their dissertation work.

The program is designed to be flexible in its scope. Coursework in foundational areas provide the unique interdisciplinary background of this degree. These competencies are designed to give the student a common base for scientific research in the EEES program and for their future careers. These core areas are :

• Advanced Chemistry

• Numerical Methods of Analysis

• Physical Systems

• Ecological Foundation

The minimum 60 semester hours required beyond the Bachelor's degree may be expanded depending on the students' research concentration and background.
