The purpose of The Institute of Ecological, Earth, and Environmental Sciences is to foster the interaction and integration of Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, and Geology for the study of the behaviors, stresses, and sustainability of Earth's natural system at multiple scales. This is accomplished through active collaboration, interdisciplinary research, graduate education, and public outreach.
The Institute is composed of Fellows selected from the Departments of Biology, Chemistry & Biochemistry, Environmental Science, and Geology at Baylor University.
Science that deals with complex environmental system problems must come from teams of researchers, each firmly grounded in their own specialized field, but with a collaborative view of research and understanding of the factors regulating the biosphere at many levels. Through our combined experiences and respective research expertise, we hope to better understand our role of stewardship for the Earth and its natural resources.
