Coaching Achievements:

• 2008 USPTA Coach of the Year
• 2008 Inducted into Baylor Athletic Hall of Fame
• 2005 ITA Coach of the Year
• 2005 NCAA Singles Champion (Benedikt Dorsch)
• 2005 ITA South Central Region Coach of the Year
• 2004 NCAA Championship
• 2004 NCAA Singles Champion (Benjamin Becker)
• Big 12 Conference Coach of the Year, 1998, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006
• Has led Bears to 11-straight NCAA appearances
• Won the first Big 12 title for any men's sport at Baylor
• Guided Baylor to eight Big 12 titles in last nine years
• Coached eight players who have earned ITA All-American status 18 times in the last nine years
• Has coached players as high as No. 1 in singles (Benedikt Dorsch , final ITA 2004 & 2005 & Lars Poerschke, 2006) and No. 2 in doubles (Hodge/Williams, April 2000)

• Seven NCAA team appearances
• 2006, 2002 & 2001 Conference Coach of the Year
• Coached 6 All-Americans
• Led team to Final 4, Elite 8 and Sweet 16 performances in 1999, 2000, 2005, 2006 & 2008
• Certified as a USA Tennis High Performance Coach

• A former WTA Top 100 touring professional
• Master's degree in exercise and sport nutrition from Texas Woman's University
• Bachelor's degree in kinesiology from Tulsa University
• Twice honored as the Western Athletic Conference player of the year (1998, 1999)
• NCAA All-American; All-WAC First Team member in singles and doubles
• Academic All-WAC First Team member; Intercollegiate Tennis Association Academic All- American; and GTE CoSida Academic All-America award recipient in 1999
• Played from 2001 to 2004 as a professional
• Competed on the U.S. Open, French Open, Wimbledon and the Australian Open
• Most memorably, van Exel faced Martina Navratilova in front of a sold-out crowd at Wimbledon
• Competed for the Netherlands as a member of her native lands Fed Cup team in 2003
