Don't listen to headphones or music, Don't watch videos or movies while on duty.
Don't play games at work (computer or otherwise).
Don't use a personal laptop during shifts (use Assistant desktops & your Bearspace if needed).
Don't hold personal phone calls or be distracted by your mobile device while at work (ONLY exception: Calling a late coworker).
Don't have LONG conversations on a TechPoint phone (about 3 minutes or less, please).
Don't speak loudly or disturb our patrons - stay quieter than they are, for their convenience.
Don't spend time away from your location or your duties while clocked in.
Don't socialize with your friends at work (tell them when your shift ends).
Don't allow your friends to hang out around the desk.
Don't allow any friends or patrons behind the desk.
Don't be behind the desk if not on duty.
Don't spend excessive time on IM, Facebook, etc.
Don't view, write, or discuss any material which could be construed as inappropriate for a workplace environment.
Don't behave in an unprofessional manner - no offensive language, no PDA with significant other, etc.
NEVER leave a facility unattended!
Disciplinary action is at the discretion of the Study Commons Coordinator, and is based on the severity and/or frequency of the violation of any stated policy.
An offense may warrant a verbal warning from the Study Commons Coordinator. The Study Commons Technician in question is expected to take corrective measures to prevent any further violations.
An offense may warrant a documented conference with the Study Commons Coordinator, AND ineligibility for a raise or promotion during the next performance evaluation period. The Technician in question will be asked to sign an agreement to prevent further violations.
A serious offense OR repeat offenses may warrant removal from shifts for a probationary period or Termination.
ALL offenses, regardless of the severity or consequences, are recorded and kept for review during future evaluations. All offences may affect eligibility for raises and promotions.
* SPECIAL NOTE: Any Technician responsible for the theft of a laptop, DUE TO A PATRON'S FRAUDULENT USE OF SOMEONE ELSE'S BAYLOR ID CARD, will be immediately terminated with no warning or conference. ALWAYS CHECK THE PICTURE ON EVERY BAYLOR ID CARD!!!
