Organizers and Principles

Julia Kahmann, Chris Rios, Doug Rogers, Laine Scales, and Glenn Blalock are a group of teachers (faculty and graduate students) committed to promoting interdisciplinary professional community among Baylor teachers.

We are organizing the Teaching Commons based on three principles:

• Teaching is a noble calling that requires reflective practice and productive conversations among teachers.
• Ideally, teaching and learning are done in community rather than in the isolation that is normal for university cultures.
• When teachers of various levels of experience (new teachers and seasoned veterans) gather in small democratic groups to talk about teaching, all have something to offer and to receive.
