Location:
The Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) is located in Belo Horizonte, capital of the state of Minas Gerais, in southeastern Brazil. It is among the top five universities in Brazil, situated on two campuses with a total area of 8.8 million square meters. It has approximately 30,000 students, 1,800 faculty, and 2,500 staff members. There are a total of 94 departments, divided among 19 academic units. UFMG is linked to Brazil's Ministry of Education, and its fundamental goals are teaching and research.,br>The Pampulha Campus offers several services for visiting students: ATM machines, banks, a post office, a travel agency, serveral bookstores, and a variety of dining options, such as restaurants, cafeterias and snack bars. Students will also have access to campus facilities, such as the libraries, sports center and computer labs.
Belo Horizonte is the third largest city in Brazil. Located in the Southeastern region, it is surrounded by the Serra do Curral Mountains. The city is known for its pleasant weather, natural resources, and architectural treasures as well as its rich artistic and cultural offerings. With approximately 560,000 trees, Belo Horizonte is one of Brazil's greenest capital cities, including 27 parks.

Students are responsible for applying directly to UFMG as well as filling out the Baylor Study Abroad Application Packet.
