Vote in Kappa Kappa Gamma's Annual Baylor Beauty Style Show ThursdayFeb. 18, 2013
One of the oldest traditions at Baylor, the Baylor Beauty Style Show, sponsored by Kappa Kappa Gamma, will once again recognize some of Baylor's most accomplished women in an event that will benefit Mission Waco.
The student voting portion of the competition will take place online from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, February 21. The student vote is the second step in a three-step process for selecting the show's participants. Voters MUST vote for eight nominees from their class in order to cast their vote.
Nominees were submitted by student organizations. Those nominees will appear on the ballot on February 21. The eight women from each classification with the greatest number of student votes will appear in the March 26 style show where the final selection will be made by a group of local dignitaries who judge the show.
The first Baylor Beauty show was organized by the Athenean Club (which later became Kappa Kappa Gamma) in 1950, and was originally a pageant held in Waco Hall and included a concert. For years the pageant was a sell out, but in the 1970s the event was scaled down to a style show.
A very popular annual event attended by approximately 300 students, parents, and alumni, the show aims to recognize and celebrate the achievements of the participants.
The Baylor Beauty Style Show will begin at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26 in the Barfield Drawing Room of the Bill Daniel Student Center. There is a nominal fee to attend with a portion of the proceeds benefitting Mission Waco.
