WACO, Texas (May 19, 2017) – As Baylor University continues to pursue an environment that exhibits cultural humility and inclusion, the work of two groups is making an impact. For the past 18 months, a Special Assistant to the University President and the 15-member President’s Advisory Council on Diversity (PACD) have been working across the University to build programs, complete agreements and organize initiatives that provide an environment of acceptance and support for students, faculty and staff from diverse backgrounds.
WACO, Texas (May 15, 2017) – Baylor University's Board of Regents has established the David E. Garland Scholarship Fund in appreciation of Garland's "unselfish and extraordinary" service to Baylor on two occasions as interim president and as interim provost. The $5 million fund will be dedicated to scholarships for students at Baylor's George W. Truett Theological Seminary, where Garland will return to teach in spring 2018.
WACO, Texas (May 12, 2017) – At its regular spring meeting, the Baylor University Board of Regents announced structural completion of the 105 recommendations related to the institution’s response to sexual violence and implementation of best-practice governance policies and procedures, and took action to approve new Board members, a $621.7 million operating budget for 2017-2018 and a new joint B.A./M.A. degree in communication studies.

Baylor baseball garnered a league-high 15 end-of-season Big 12 Conference honors, including Steve Rodriguez being named Big 12 Coach of the Year and Montana Parsons earning Co-Big 12 Newcomer of the Year. Their research consisted of analyzing black carbon, also known as soot, to detect the presence of radioactive carbon isotopes in order to tell whether the soot came from ancient carbon, such as fossil fuels, or newer sources, such as forest fires.
