VIDEO INCLUDED: “The Gathering,” a Palm Sunday worship event at Baylor's McLane Stadium, attracted more than 30,000 people, with more than 1,200 people making decisions about their faith and more than 12 tons of food donated for local pantries. Pastor Ramiro Pena, the event’s executive director, said the service is believed to be the largest worship gathering in Waco’s history. Pastor Kevin Harrison, lead administrator of the planning team, said some 40,000 Instagram pictures were put online during “The Gathering,” and it was the No. 4 trending topic on Twitter on Sunday. Both men believe the event will serve as a blueprint for mass worship services in other cities.

Lead Gift from Longtime Benefactor Supports Purchase of New Building for Baylor Nursing School

WACO, Texas (April 1, 2015) – Baylor University today announced a lead gift by Louise “Lou” Herrington Ornelas of Tyler, Texas, that made possible the purchase of the Baptist General Convention of Texas building in Dallas for use as the new home for Baylor’s Louise Herrington School of Nursing. Baylor will begin plans to renovate the facility, to be named the Louise Herrington Nursing School Building, to house the outstanding academic programs and simulation training for which the School is nationally recognized.

Baylor English Professor’s Book Receives Country’s Largest Award for Debut Fiction

WACO, Texas (March 25, 2015) – “Elegy on Kinderklavier,” a book by Arna B. Hemenway, M.F.A., assistant professor in the department of English in Baylor’s College of Arts & Sciences, has been awarded the 2015 PEN/Hemingway Award for a distinguished first work of fiction, the largest award for debut fiction in the country.

Finalists Selected for Baylor's $250,000 Robert Foster Cherry Award for Great Teaching
