The 19th-ranked #Baylor Bears won their 6th game this year over a ranked opponent -- a new program record -- Saturday afternoon in a 78-66 victory against No. 20 West Virginia.The #EveryoneInBlack crowd of 9,385 Bears included 600+ Fort Hood soldiers & family members and about 75 veterans who are full-time Baylor students.

New research by Baylor University, Louisiana State University and Florida State University found that a slight rebound in sexual activity occurs for couples whose marriages endure longer than half a century. Quoted are Samuel Stroope, Ph.D., former researcher with Baylor who now is an assistant professor of sociology at LSU, and co-author Jeremy Uecker, Ph.D., assistant professor of sociology in Baylor’s College of Arts & Sciences. iDigitalTimes: Smartphone Addiction Statistics Reveal that 1 in 8 are Addicted to Their Phones

Baylor researchers James Roberts, Ph.D., The Ben H. Williams Professor of Marketing, and Chris Pullig, Ph.D., associate professor and chair of marketing in Baylor’s Hankamer School of Business, found that individuals who frequently check their cellphone may be trying to improve how they feel emotionally. Similar to substance addictions, cellphone addiction could be an attempt at mood repair, the study found. Baylor researchers recruited 346 men and women with an average age of 21 and analyzed their personalities and level of mobile phone addiction through their answers to a detailed questionnaire. Monadnock Ledger-Transcript: Filmmaker Opens 14th MacDowell Season

Filmmaker Katarzyna Plazinska, M.A. (Communication Studies) ’11, will open the MacDowell, New Hampshire, film season at The Monadnock Center for History and Culture. Plazinska grew up in Poland but moved to Texas to complete her M.A. in film and digital media at Baylor University. She will introduce several shorts that all feature a variety of subject matter while maintaining consistently beautiful cinematography. Her works have screened for the Film Society in the Lincoln Center, at the Ann Arbor Film Festival, at the Museum of Chinese in America in New York, and at The Black Maria Film Festival. Plazinska is also a co-founder of Zeff Production, a Polish-American-Persian creative team.
