I truly enjoyed my first-ever Family Weekend as President and the opportunity to interact with so many members of our extended Baylor Family – parents, brothers and sisters, guardians, friends and others who support our students.
Starting this fall break and again during spring break, Baylor Missions will be sending teams of Baylor students, faculty and staff to work on various relief projects in south Texas communities impacted by Hurricane Harvey. Baylor Missions teams will be partnering with various community groups and relief efforts, who are already mobilizing, identifying needs and sharing hope as they help communities rebuild their lives. Sept. 5, 2017 The Center for Nonprofit Leadership and Service within Baylor’s Hankamer School of Business focuses on teaching its students through research, teaching and outreach. Students are equipped with the knowledge and skills to succeed in summer internships, jobs and in their future career goals. The center maintains close-knit relationships with many nonprofits around Waco and provides opportunities for students to connect with a job they love.
Sept. 20, 2017 Baylor’s Center for Global Engagement is helping students get more out of their travels as budding leaders with international experience as well as lifelong memories. Baylor’s study abroad programs spread across six continents and 47 countries with new programs, like Baylor in Peru, added every year. Quoted are Bo White, director of study abroad, and Jeffrey Hamilton, Ph.D., vice provost of global education. “Study abroad shouldn’t be a separate part of your education experience, it should be organic,” Hamilton said.
July 18, 2017 In its first year, the Spiritual Life and Character Formation Task Force has already implemented a number of new and updated programs focused around Baylor University’s Christian mission. While some initiatives have concentrated on student development and others have focused on faculty and staff, the Baylor Young Scholars Program has taken a unique approach to impacting both.
