9. Position Description: The Processing Tech preserves digital audio interview recordings on a preservation server by copying audio files from original recording media, verifying file integrity, entering metadata into digital audio files, and making copies of recordings on physical media such as CDs or DVDs for backup preservation, transcribing and other processing, and presentation to interview participants. Duties also include data entry and update for each interview recording in a FileMaker Pro database, as well as creation of paper files for each interviewee for notes, correspondence, and transcripts. Attention to detail is essential to the position.
10. Skills Required: Applicants must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Office programs. Office experience and experience with digital audio media desired. This position requires attention to detail, the ability to follow instructions carefully and to complete complex tasks, and patience with systems that are occasionally problematical. Applicants must be able to work both quickly and efficiently as they complete the first steps in a lengthy preservation process.
