9. Position Description: Tutors are placed at local schools throughout Waco ISD, Connally ISD, LaVega ISD, Marlin ISD, Mexia ISD and West ISD. Reading and math tutors are placed at local elementary. Math tutors are placed at local middle schools and high schools. Five additional tutors are placed at each high school to assist High Cs seniors with high school graduation requirements and prepare seniors for admission to McLennan Community College. Tutors are expeceted to provide tutoring services for students that are at-risk of dropping out; expected to maintain accurate logs of all time spent with students and turn in corresponding paperwork on a bi-weekly basis; expected to help students with homework or create activities for students who may not have homework; expected to attend a few trainings and/or meetings throughout the semester. Tutors are allowed to set their own work schedule within the set parameters.
10. Skills Required: Should have a passion for helping the Waco community. Great experience for Education and Social Work majors but all majors are welcomed. Must be dependable, punctual and organized. Must have reliable transportation or be willing to carpool. A criminal background check will be processed by the organization. Prior experiece in tutoring is a plus!
11. Special Instructions: You must be eligible for the Federal Work-Study program. Reminder that this is an off-campus position. You must submit a complete application which consists of: the CIS-HOT Tutoring Application, Work-Study Referral form from the Baylor Student Financial Aid Office, one DPS CCH Verification, one Self-Attestation form, one Conflict of Interest form, one Criminal Background Check, one Child Abuse Registry form (must be notarized), and two Letters of Recommendation.
