	RISK MANAGEMENT TRAINING

Thank you to all who have attended our Risk Management Training sessions (through our Student Organization Summit events)! If you are in need of assistance presenting the risk management material to your organization, please feel free to download 2009-10 Risk Management Training powerpoint presentation used at the summit events. Baylor University is legally obligated to provide risk management training to all student organizations. The training will be provided through the Student Organization Summit and Student Organization Advisor Summit events. The risk management information provided through our training will be beneficial to you and your organization!

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR YOU AS A STUDENT LEADER?

As a student organization leader, you must attend our risk management training (which will be held in conjunction with the Student Organization Summit on September 2 & 3, 2009). Representatives who must participate in this training include, but are not limited to: the organization President (or equivalent) and the Risk Management Officer (or equivalent). These officers must attend at least one of the Risk Management programs during the their term in elected (or equivalent) office. Following the training, you as officers will be responsible for presenting a summary of the training to your organization's members. Please keep in mind that this is state law! You are legally obligated to convey this training on to your members!

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR YOU AS A STUDENT ORGANIZATION ADVISOR?

As a student organization advisor, you must attend a special risk management training session (held in conjunction with our Student Organization Advisor Summit on September 9 & 10, 2009). Following the training, advisors are expected to assist student leaders in reporting a summary of the training to the organization's membership. All advisors must participate in this risk management training. As an advisor, you are required to attend this training this year and once every three years following. The Department of Student Activities will be responsible for maintaining attendance records and will notify you when you must renew your training.

Please mark your calendars now for our upcoming Student Organization Summit (September 2 & 3, 2009) and the Student Organization Advisor Summit (September 9 & 10, 2009). Your attendance at this risk management program is essential for your organization to remain in good standing at Baylor. Organizations which fail to have its officers and advisors attend the required program will be prohibited from hosting social events, placed on organizational probation, and posted on a list on non-compliant student organizations on the Student Activities website.
