The Greek Community at Baylor allows for a home-away-from-home environment you can proudly come back to after graduation. Being part of the Greek Community is a chance to be a part of something greater than yourself. Through the Greek Community you are given the advantage of networking through alumni and being involved with campus leadership activities. You will gain more from your education than academics. You will also gain lifelong friendships, memories, and a strong sense of accomplishment.
The activities and programs for Greek life support the Mission of the Department of Student Activities and reflect our Core Values. We utilize our four philosophies/stategies to guide our programs and events.
Our PURPOSES:
1) Leadership Development: Many great leaders throughout history come from a strong Greek background. In order to prepare our students to create positive change, we realize that certain leadership skills should be in place. Greek life at Baylor allows our students the opportunities to utilize their strengths and develop life skills, enabling them to be positive agents for change in their communities.
2) Community Building: Our programs and collaborative efforts are focus on building across all four councils and within the Baylor and Waco communities.
3) Service Involvement: One of the most gratifying aspects of Greek Life is the opportunity to give back. Greek affiliation affords members the opportunity to get involved in the community through chapter sponsored events or individual and small group activities. The variety of projects enrich the lives of our students and the Waco community.
4) Education/Academic: One of the main principles of Greek organizations is academic achievement and our chapters provide a strong support system for their members to be successful academically. We want to provide an environment for students to excel the classroom by offering resources and programs to supplement their classroom experience.
5) Retention/Involvement: Studies show that students who are involved on campus are more likely to graduate than other collegians. We feel that this connection to one of our Greek organizations will provide an outlet for our students to create life long friendships and fond memories while at Baylor.
