Since my days as an undergraduate student in mathematics and education at Arkansas State University, I have enjoyed the applicability and usefulness of statistics. I took additional statistics courses while earning my M.S. in Mathematics at that same institution. I easily singled out statistics as the area of concentration for my Ph.D. At the end of the first year of my Ph.D. at Texas A&M University, I took my first course in time series analysis. I knew immediately that I wanted to learn more about this topic. Time series analysis continues to intrigue me and is the primary focus of my statistical research. I am also extending my work into spatial statistics. Since the problems I work on require quite sophisticated computational techniques, I also dabble in computational statistics.

After earning my Ph.D., I was on faculty for four years at Bowling Green State University in Ohio, and spent one summer as a visiting scholar in the Department of Statistics at Stanford University. Following that, I worked in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Mississippi State University for nine years. I joined the Department of Statistical Science at Baylor University in the Fall of 2007 as an Associate Professor. My professional memberships include the Institute of Mathematical Statistics, the American Statistical Association, where I serve as an officer in the Statistical Computing Section, and I am an elected fellow of the International Statistical Institute. I am currently an associate editor for The American Statistician and am on the Editorial Review Board of the Journal of the American Statistical Association. I have also served as an associate editor for Computational Statistics and The Journal of Statistical Computation and Simulation. On a personal note, I have a wonderful husband or 22 years who works in Baylor's Biology Department, and four delightful children. I dearly love teaching or leading Women's Bible Studies, and reading Christian historical fiction.
