Staff Council Debrief - January 2008
Feb. 5, 2008
This is the Staff Council debrief that summarizes the meetings on December 4, 2007 and January 15, 2008.
Chair John Lowe presided at both meetings. Susie Johnston acted as Vice-Chair.
President John M. Lilley attended both Staff Council meetings. He answered questions about Baylor 2012 endorsements, campus expansion projects, development activities, and the Christmas reception in the Bill Daniel Student Center.
Reports were given on the following committees:
S.T.E.P.P. Committee - The December luncheon immediately followed the Council meeting. There was group singing and a special barbershop quartet performance by Heritage Square. The next luncheon will be on February 19.
Money Management Committee - A brief updated was provided by the Money Management committee and a report will be presented at the February meeting.
Q&A Committee - The committee is currently investigating the possibility of creating a staff endowed scholarship.
In December, the Council unanimously passed a motion to fill the three vacancies by allowing the Chair to submit names for approval by electronic vote. Chandra Ford, Kevin Henry, and Leigh Ann Moffett were approved and are now serving as temporary members until the end of the academic year.
Information was presented at the meeting about a meeting between the Chair and the Compensation and Benefits office. The history behind the Shared Sick Leave policy was discussed and the Council voted in January to allow the requests for shared sick leave donations to be sent to staff directly from the Compensation and Benefits office.
The Council also continued discussions in January regarding the addition of faculty/staff pictures to the Online Directory.
