Staff Council Debrief - November 2007

Nov. 29, 2007

This is the Staff Council debrief that summarizes the meeting on November 13, 2007.

Chair John Lowe presided at the meeting. Susie Johnston acted as Vice-Chair.

President John M. Lilley attended the Staff Council meeting. He answered questions and made comments about improving the level of wellness among employees, an online pictorial directory, and handling negative press.

Dean Pattie Orr, Vice President for Information Technology and Dean of Libraries, presented information about the recent improvements in the libraries and information technology areas; and her goals and concerns.

Chuck Cullen, Consulting Engineering Group, Director of Parking Consulting Services, and his team of parking engineer consultants were on campus to examine the parking situation and provide feedback for long-range planning.

Reports were given on the following committees:

S.T.E.P.P. Committee - The next STEPP Luncheon is scheduled for December 4. There will be group singing and a special barbershop quartet performance by Heritage Square.

Shirt Committee - The spirit shirt orders are in. The total items ordered, 266, is less than last year.

Service Project Committee - Steppin' Out was an enormous success and a rewarding experience. Hundreds of people around campus participated. Suggestions for upcoming service projects include Habitat for Humanity and the Methodist Children's Home.

Information was presented at the meeting about a Human Resource Services meeting, Staff Addendums to Baylor 2012, and a staff endowed scholarship.
