Staff Council Debrief - October 2007

This is the Staff Council debrief that summarizes the meeting on October 9, 2007.
Chair John Lowe presided at the meeting. Carolyn Muska acted as Secretary.
President John M. Lilley attended the Staff Council meeting. He answered questions and made comments about the Baylor Alumni Association, intelligent design research issue, casual dress at work, Baylor branding, and the Fall Faculty/Staff Forum.
Darren Bell, Director of Tax & Compliance Accounting, presented information about the taxability of donated door prizes to staff.
Matthew Cordon, Faculty Senate Chair, presented information on the Faculty Senate's priorities and goals for 2007-08.
Reports were given on the following committees:
S.T.E.P.P. Committee - The first luncheon in September was attended by 80 individuals. The next luncheon is scheduled on October 9th with 120 registrants. Future luncheons are posted online at the Staff Council website.
Shirt Committee - The Spirit shirts will be posted on the website and go on tour soon.
Q&A Committee - Information was presented about the immunization policy for staff enrolling in classes and posting fliers on campus.
Information was presented at the meeting about Connect-ED (the new emergency notification system), 2008 United Way Campaign, University branding, and Staff Council service projects.
