What's the Big Idea?
The Baylor Alumni Network in partnership with Baylor Department of Missions is launching a pilot initiative through which alumni may work side by side with students and faculty on selected global mission trips. Interested alumni should apply HERE online and may be matched with appropriate teams subject to the needs of the program, the expertise and interest of the alum, and the availability of space on the trip.
What exactly is Global Missions @ Baylor?
__________________________________________________________We believe in a God who is on mission, a God who is working actively in & around the world. It is this same God who invites us to partner with Him where He is already at work. Believing this to be true, BU Missions seeks to create tangible opportunities for alumni to engage with students to understand how they can use the knowledge & skills they gain here at Baylor to love people around the world.
As we plan our global experiences, we collaborate with faculty & staff from a variety of disciplines & backgrounds along with our global partners in order to implement spiritually rich & challenging experiences for our students. It is our hope that the alumni who participate alongside our students in our mission trips not only enjoy the experience (which is important), but also serve as mentors to our students as they begin to understand vocation & calling as they see first-hand how they can use their discipline to serve.
What are other roles can Alumni play in Baylor Missions?
- PRAY: Pray for our students, our team leaders, our global ministry partners, and the people all around the world who will interact with our teams. Pray that our teams will not only transform, but be transformed.
- GIVE: Alumni also play an important role in financially supporting our Baylor students on discipline-specific mission trips. Our program would not exist were it not for the generous contributions of faithful friends of Baylor who are passionate about seeing students experience vocation as missions. Interested in partnering with our students? Give to the Student Missions Fund! We also have opportunities for materials and supplies to be donated to teams!
- SHARE: Listen to student and team leader's stories about our Baylor Missions experiences and how it has impacted lives by watching our videos, reading our blogs, looking at our photostories, or experiencing it first-hand alongside us in the mission field. By sharing our stories with the Baylor community and beyond, we can encourage and inspire others to give and serve just the same.
