What's that one thing that led you to be a part of Spiritual Life?

I realized I wanted to be a part of Spiritual Life when I was meeting with a student to discuss questions and doubts he had been struggling through. It wasn't like I was there to ‘fix' him, but we were sharing life. Halfway through the conversation at a local restaurant it hit me like a ton of bricks. There was no other place I'd rather be in the whole world than in that chair talking with that student about things that matter.

Why have you chosen to work specifically with students?

College is a time in life where students are reassessing their sense of identity and purpose. For most students, it is the first time that they are venturing out into a real sense of independence and more fully questioning and discovering who they are and their place in the world. The opportunity to journey with students through this time of growth in the areas of identity and calling is a high privilege.

What is the best movie you've seen in the past year?

In the past year it is a toss up between Rocket Science and Iron Man.

What is your favorite movie of all time and why?

My favorite movie of all time is The Shawshank Redemption because it is a hope-filled portrayal of the intermingling of humanity at both its best and worst from the gritty confines of an unforgiving prison.

James Callihan at Common Grounds cannot be beat! If I actually want coffee I will go for a Cowboy Coffee or Hot Snickers.
