Baylor Staff
Spirit Fridays

When asked what they love most about working at Baylor, many faculty and staff describe the sense of community and feeling of satisfaction in contributing to the important mission of the University. That sense of pride drives them to do their best work in the classroom, the office, and with students. Others recognize that Baylor spirit through their actions.

Baylor’s Spirit Fridays give faculty and staff a visible way to show their pride and support for Baylor by wearing the green and gold of our University. Each Friday throughout the year, President Linda A. Livingstone, Ph.D., invites faculty and staff to wear their favorite green and gold apparel in the workplace. Don your favorite t-shirt or button down, pull on your favorite sweater or scarf – even work-appropriate jeans are OK on Spirit Friday!

Managers, as your team participates in Spirit Friday, you might have or receive questions about what is appropriate and professional to wear. Different departments have different expectations about dress standards, so one of the most important things you can do is clearly communicate your department’s expectations for Spirit Day to everyone on your team. Below are the policy guidelines to help you and your team show great Baylor spirit.

Each Friday of the week is designated as Baylor Spirit Friday during which employees are encouraged to wear business casual attire that highlights Baylor. An exception to the typical business casual attire is permitted on Baylor Spirit Fridays - neat and appropriate jeans may be worn in the place of slacks and skirts. From time to time, business meetings or other events may require and employee to dress more formally, even though it is considered Baylor Spirit Friday. Therefore, employees are expected to use good judgment regarding this matter.
