Rules 6-10

6. USE YOUR OWN PERSONALS

Each student is expected to have his/her own personal articles (soap, toothpaste, deodorant, razors, perfume/aftershave, etc.) Under no circumstances are you to use the articles of your host family. Be especially frugal in the use of toilet paper. It is not to be used as Kleenex.

7. TAKE SPECIAL CARE TO CONSERVE

It goes without saying that services in Spain are significantly more expensive than in the U.S. (electricity, telephone, water, gas, etc.) Each student should take extra care to turn off lights, use electrical appliances frugally, etc. Every effort must be made to not waste resources.
8.

IT IS ABSOLUTELY PROHIBITED TO MAKE LONG DISTANCE PHONE CALLS FROM YOUR HOUSE

You must ask permission to make local calls from your house. Do not be offended if the señora asks you to make your calls from a pay phone on the street. It is okay to receive calls at your home, but you must not be on the phone inordinately long. In Spain, even local calls are charged individually and students frequently do not realize that the monthly bill can be very high.
9. Each student has the right to take ONE SHOWER PER DAY. Please try not to exceed five minutes

10. EATING ARRANGEMENTS

On travel days, the señora will pack a sack lunch for you. You should always advise her at least a day before so that she can make the purchases. If you do want a sack lunch, just let her know. If there are certain types of food you do not care for (within reason), let her know so that she can plan accordingly.
