Kenley Bailey BSED '06 is heading back to Zambia this month to work for Family Legacy Missions. During the summer Kenley and Ashley Minton BSED '07 MSED '08, were unexpectedly reunited on a team that worked as mentors for the teachers in Family Legacy's private schools. The girls first met while working in the School of Education's University for Young People held every summer by the Center for Community Learning and Enrichment. Ashley is teaching in Coppell ISD and Kenley had previously been working as an assistant principal in Crowley ISD.

Baylor Media Communications The Texas Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (TAHPERD) has awarded Ted Powers, Ph.D., retired departmental chair and Professor Emeritus of Health, Human Performance and Recreation in Baylor University's School of Education, with the 2013 David K. Brace Award for excellence and leadership. Quoted is Associate Professor in HHPR, Deborah Johnston, Ed.D, who worked with Powers and had him as a professor during her graduate studies at Baylor.
Three graduate students from the Baylor School of Education's Department of Curriculum & Instruction made presentations at the Consortium of State Organizations for Texas Teacher Education (CSOTTE) conference in San Antonio on October 21st. Each student presented her action research, done during her Intern year, in a poster presentation format in the Emerging Scholars Track of the conference.
The School of Education hosted a Homecoming breakfast Oct. 19 in the courtyard of its new home in the renovated Marrs McLean Science Building. Almost 200 alumni and friends registered to attend the breakfast and braved the chilly weather for a pre-parade gathering.

Guest speaker Mike Reid, Ph.D., dean of the College of Health and Human Performance at the University of Florida, will present a lecture titled, "Free Radicals, Antioxidants, and Muscle Function."
Donors to Baylor's School of Education Scholarship Programs were invited to an appreciation reception on Friday, October 4th to meet students who were the beneficiaries of the various scholarships. The students were able to express their appreciation for the donors' generosity and to talk to them about what that scholarship meant to them and their Baylor experience. The donors, as well, were able to recount for the students the reasons they were inspired to make such a tangible expression of their support for Baylor and the School of Education.
