Baylor Candidates Partner with Wester Middle School...Virtually
[4/29/2013]
During this spring semester Dr. Sheila Gloer's sophomore teaching candidates preparing to teach 4th -8th grades were paired with at least one student in Frisco ISD's Wester Middle School, designated in 2012 as a "Texas School to Watch" by the Texas Middle School Association. Candidates used technology to overcome the 122 miles separating them from Wester by taking virtual field trips and holding Skype sessions with teams of teachers and students to learn about interdisciplinary teaming. The teaching candidates created WebQuests and Flipped video teaching lessons and each also tutored a Wester student via the web. Wester teachers felt this unique partnership was beneficial to their students' learning as well as heightening Wester students' desire to attend college.
