Athletic Training Graduate Assistantships
The Department of HHPR at Baylor University annually awards competitive athletic training graduate assistant positions to highly qualified individuals interested in gaining additional athletic training experience. Graduate assistant placements are made based on the graduate student's academic background, qualifications, credentials and career goals. Positions are available working with college/university athletics and intramurals including the Baylor University Athletic Department, private and public secondary schools, as well as teaching in Baylor's CAATE accredited entry-level athletic training program. If not already licensed in TX, graduate assistants must seek and obtain licensure in order to practice as an athletic trainer.
Regarding graduate assistantships, these funded positions are generally one year renewable contracts that are subject to semester by semester favorable review. The appointment is set at 20-35 hours per week and is based on the responsibilities previously presented. The stipend for graduate athletic training assistantships typically ranges between $7,500 and $11,000 for a 10 month contract, or $12,000 - $14,000 for a 12 month contract depending on assignment and source of graduate assistant support. In addition, Baylor University pays the cost of full-time tuition for graduate assistant positions.
All applicants must be admitted to the Baylor University Graduate School and Department of HHPR prior to any decisions regarding graduate assistantships. Applications will be accepted until November 5, 2013 for Fall 2013 placements. However, interested applicants are strongly encouraged to apply early as applications are reviewed as they arrive.
