Baylor Establishes Outdoor Adventure Living and Learning Center
News Release

General Program Description

While the Recreation and Leisure Services program gives special attention to preparation in the areas of outdoor and church recreation, the thirty-nine semester hours of concentration in recreation education, along with sports skills and recreation certification courses, constitute strong preparation for practitionership in almost any recreation and leisure services delivery system. These might include such programs as are found in municipal recreation, churches, industrial and corporate recreation, private club recreation, military recreation, shipboard recreation, youth serving agencies, camps, and many others. The contributions of recreation to the broad concept of wellness in the areas of mental and emotional health through stress management, along with the contributions to physical fitness through vigorous active program elements, identify leisure services as a major player in the maintenance of human life as well as a provider of enjoyment for its hosts.
