Secondary Education Programs

Secondary teacher certification in Texas requires in-depth preparation in an academic subject area and completion of professional education course work in secondary education. Our high schools today are in need of teachers who not only are experts in their content field, but who also are committed to understanding the unique emotional and educational needs of teens.

The Secondary Certificate Team provides teacher candidates with rigorous training in an academic content field, and at the same time, prepares them to manage a classroom and to build positive supportive relationships with students. The candidates have extended field experiences while assigned to a Professional Development School. Upon graduation, the candidates are well qualified to help teens prepare for their futures academically, socially and emotionally.
