Undergraduate Programs
The Department of Curriculum and Instruction offers undergraduate programs to prepare teachers at three levels: Elementary (PreK - Grade 6), Middle (Grade 4- Grade 8), and Secondary (Grade 8 – Grade 12).
The Elementary Education program prepares highly qualified teachers for work in diverse school settings in grades Pre-K through 6. Graduates of the Elementary program earn a Bachelor of Science in Education (B.S. Ed.) with Elementary Generalist certification. Supplemental certification may be added in English as a Second Language, Gifted and Talented Education or Special Education.
The Middle Grades Education program prepares highly qualified subject area specialists to teach mathematics in grades 4-8. Graduates of the Middles Grades program earn a Bachelor of Science in Education (B.S. Ed.) with Mathematics 4-8 certification. Supplemental certification may be added in English as a Second Language.
The Secondary Education program prepares highly qualified subject area specialists to
teach in grades 8-12. Graduates of the Secondary Education program earn a
Bachelor of Science in Education (B.S. Ed.) with certification in one subject
area selected from the following: English, Life Science, Mathematics, Physical
Science, Science, Social Studies or Spanish. Supplemental certification may be
added in English as a Second Language.
A Secondary Education Minor leading to certification as a science teacher is also offered.
The Department also supports the Business Education program which prepares specialists for Grades
