SOE Graduate Students Honored with Who’s Who

Woodward is pictured working with a student at the Baylor Center for Developmental Disabilities.

Six School of Education Seniors Honored with Awards

SenAwards-2016-THUMBSix graduating seniors in the Baylor School of Education were honored with awards at the annual Senior Recognition Banquet on April 21. Erica Amos of Wylie, Texas, was named the 2016 EDICUT Pre-service Educator of the Year. Also known as “The Dean’s Award,” the honor is presented at each private university education program in Texas by the Education Deans of Independent Colleges and Universities of Texas. Also receiving awards were Josh Dietert, Mary Ernsbarger, Sarah Goodman, Kaitlin Welsh and Stephanie Wright.

Tiffany Hogue Joins Baylor School of Education as Clinical Professor of Higher Education

TiffanyHogue-THUMBTiffany Hogue, who served for thirteen years in Baylor’s Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost, including the past five years as the provost’s chief of staff, has joined the School of Education in the role of Clinical Professor of Higher Education in the Department of Educational Administration. She will teach graduate courses in the areas of education leadership, governance and law and teach undergraduate courses in the Leadership minor, a program she initially will direct.

AERA-Glanzer-THUMBSeveral Baylor School of Education faculty members — including Dr. Perry Glanzer (pictured) — and graduate students presented research at the annual meeting of the American Educational Research Association (AERA), held in Washington, D.C., April 8-12. AERA is a national research society that is concerned with improving the educational process by encouraging scholarly inquiry related to education and evaluation and by promoting the dissemination and practical application of research results.

Dr. Sandi Cooper Earns Baylor Centennial Professor Award

SandiCooper-THUMBSandra Cooper, Ph.D., professor and coordinator of the mathematics education program in Baylor University’s School of Education, has been selected as one of two recipients of the 2016 Baylor Centennial Professor Awards. Created by the Baylor Centennial Class of 1945, the award provides tenured professors with $5,000 for research projects that will facilitate more in-depth study in his or her field. Cooper will use the award to fund a study that will define highly effective elementary school mathematics teachers. She will use her research to improve her early education courses and better teach her students – future educators themselves – what they can do to establish math skills early on in their students’ lives.
