Shelly Isaacs's research interests include the sociology of religion, experiencing illness, and sexuality. Her dissertation explores the experience of illness in Pentecostal religious settings. She is also currently researching the personal motivations and organizational connections of individuals engaged in sex trafficking short term mission trips.
Shelly has worked as a research consultant for Tyndale House Foundation and Wheaton College Admissions Department, and edited the educational documentary, Short-term Missions: Case Studies from Peru. While at Baylor, she worked as a research assistant on the Faith at Work project, funded by the National Science Foundation.
