Phil Davignon's research interests include the sociology of religion, higher education, and applied sociology. His dissertation explores the influence of faith-based higher education on the religious beliefs and practices of college students, and his published research appears in Review of Religious Research, Sociological Spectrum, Christian Higher Education, and Journal of Opioid Management. While at Baylor he also conducted research on the social integration and retention of freshman students for the provost's office. In addition, he was awarded the Presidential Scholarship and served as a Presidential Fellow.
Phil is concurrently working in the research department at the Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB) as he finishes his Ph.D. (graduation May 2014). His research at the FSMB focuses on the licensure and discipline of physicians in the United States.
