Jayakumar Christian, a development practitioner, is the National Director of World Vision India, a child-focused, community-based agency seeking fullness of life for all children. He leads a team of 1800 community workers and staff reaching more than 5300 communities through programs addressing issues such as infant mortality, hunger, education and child labor. Jayakumar formerly served as the Director for Transformational Development at World Vision International and as a development worker in a village in northern India. He is the author of several articles on community development and the book, God of the Empty Handed: Poverty, Power, & the Kingdom of God. He holds a bachelor's degree from Madras University, an M.S.W. from the Madras School of Social Work, and a master's degree and doctorate in World Missions from Fuller Theological Seminary. Jayakumar is married to Vidhya, and they have been blessed with two sons, Jayanth and Vikram.
Steve Corbett is the Community Development Specialist and Distance Learning Trainer for the Chalmers Center for Economic Development in addition to serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economic and Community Development at Covenant College. He is the co-author of When Helping Hurts: How to Alleviate Poverty Without Hurting the Poor™and Yourself, which provides a Biblically-based framework for helping the poor by shedding light on the causes of poverty and offering principles for effective ministry. Prior to joining Chalmers and Covenant in 2001, Steve worked with Food for the Hungry International (FHI) for 12 years as the Director of Staff Training. Steve holds a bachelor's degree from Covenant College and a M.Ed. in Adult Education from the University of Georgia. Steve and his wife, Mary, have seven children: Sadie, Janel, Jacob, Hattie, Levi, Amos and Elsie.
Cindy Wiles currently serves as the Director of the Kinexxus Network, a network of churches committed to the preparation and sending of their people into the world. Kinexxus assists local churches through online training resources, networking and sending services. Cindy has served in ministry and missions for 31 years, primarily by mobilizing North American congregations to engage in cross-cultural missions. She previously served as the Global Missions Facilitator/West Africa Area Leader for First Baptist Church in Arlington, Texas. In partnership with her husband Dennis, Cindy has committed her life to helping local churches live into the calling from Christ to take the gospel to the nations. She holds a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Alabama in Birmingham and attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Cindy and Dennis are the proud parents of Hannah and Josiah.
Dennis Wiles has served as the Pastor of First Baptist Church of Arlington, Texas, since 2001. Under his leadership, the church has increased its weekend attendance by 60% and has greatly expanded its ministry base. Dennis has helped to establish many new ministries including a global missions effort that now includes both short-term mission efforts and career missionary appointments. He and his wife, Cindy, were awarded the 2007 George W. Truett Award for Excellence in Ministry by The Baptist Standard and Baylor University. Before being called to Arlington, he served as pastor of churches in Oklahoma, Alabama and Texas. Dennis holds a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Alabama in Birmingham and a M.Div. and Ph.D. from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Dennis and Cindy have two children, Hannah and Josiah.
