Agency Mission/Services:
The mission of Communities In Schools of the Heart of Texas is to support and strengthen our children, youth, and families through advocacy, collaborative action, and innovative use of community resources. CIS-HOT is a dropout prevention program that provides case management to students at-risk in Waco, LaVega, and Marlin ISDs. CIS-HOT provides school-based services in the following categories:
•Health and human services coordination
•Parent and family involvement
•Pre-employment training and services
•Enrichment activities and experiences
•Educational enhancement

Opportunities:
Baccalaureate/MSW Foundation: Work with campus Program Manager and carry a caseload of 5-20 students on a campus to provide services from engagement to termination through micro, mezzo, and macro interventions. Provide mentoring, tutoring, referrals, group, and system level services that align with the mission of CIS-HOT and TEA contract requirements. Complete paperwork and enter data into an internet system regularly to evaluate progress and program effectiveness.

MSW Concentration: Work with campus Program Manager and carry a caseload of 5-20 students on a campus to provide services from engagement to termination through micro, mezzo, and macro interventions. Utilize therapeutic techniques and therapies to address students with mental health needs. Provide mentoring, tutoring, referrals, group, and system level services that align with the mission of CIS-HOT and TEA contract requirements. Complete paperwork and enter data into an internet system regularly to evaluate progress and program effectiveness..

Desired Qualifications:
An open mind, genuine desire to work with kids, and an interest in the profession of social work. Able to uphold ethical standards, FERPA laws regarding confidentiality and agency procedures. Have an understanding of the case management model and general skills of social work practice. Comfortable working in public school setting for a community-based agency.

Agency Hours:
8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday-Friday

Training Required: Yes, training occurs at all staff meetings on a monthly basis. Orientation and preservice training is provided to all interns. Individual meetings with supervisor and once a month group intern meetings with agency staff.
