Agency Mission/Services:
The mission of Communities In Schools of the Heart of Texas is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. CIS-HOT is a dropout prevention program that provides case management to students at-risk in Waco, LaVega, Connally, West, Mexia and Marlin ISDs. CIS-HOT provides school-based services in the following categories:
•Supportive counseling
•Health and human services coordination
•Parent and family involvement
•Workforce development
*Afterschool programming
•Enrichment activities
•Educational enhancement

Opportunities:
Baccalaureate/MSW Foundation: Intern will carry a caseload of 10-15 students, provide case management, co-facilitate and lead groups, plan and assist in implementing school-wide events that promote student well-being, research and add to program design elements such as curriculum, interventions, assessment tools and systems.

MSW Concentration: Intern will carry a caseload of 10-15 students, provide case management, co-facilitate and lead groups, plan and assist in implementing school-wide events that promote student well-being, research and add to program design elements such as curriculum and therapeutic interventions under their supervisor, complete their research project within CIS, and present findings to CIS leadership.

Desired Qualifications:
An open mind, genuine desire to work with kids, and an interest in the profession of social work. Able to uphold ethical standards, FERPA laws regarding confidentiality and agency procedures. Have an understanding of the case management model and general skills of social work practice. Comfortable working in public school setting for a community-based agency.

Agency Hours:
8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday-Friday

Training Required:
Yes, Project Operations training will be provided to all interns during their first week of placement. Monthly staff trainings also occur, along with individual training during supervision.
