Service and Faith
The Service and Faith Project examines how participation in community service impacts the faith of congregation members. In an era where much research and political discussion has focused on congregations as a community resource, this research focuses on the patterns of organized community service that are conducive to deepening the faith of congregational volunteers and what patterns deplete their resources for caring. The project was carried out by Diana Garland, Dennis Myers, and Michael Sherr at the Baylor School of Social Work, and additional research partners from Calvin College, University of South Carolina, and Whittier College.
The documents on this Web site provide additional details about the project as well as resources to help community and congregational leaders minister more effectively with families.
