Study: Social workers struggle to talk faith in practice
New research by a Baylor University professor shows that licensed clinical social workers believe that discussions about their clients’ religion and spirituality can often lead to improved health and mental health, but practitioners are not integrating these conversations into their counseling sessions.
Regents Vote to Change Name of School
WACO, Texas (April 24, 2015) – Baylor University’s Board of Regents has voted to name the university’s School of Social Work in honor of its inaugural dean, Diana R. Garland, Ph.D., who has announced that she will step down from her position June 1 and return to faculty.
Legacy of Social Work Service Explored
In honor of National Social Work Month, the local Waco Today magazine just featured Dr. Preston Dyer, professor emeritus, along with retired McLennan Community College instructor Martie Sauter, for their legacy of 50+ years of social work service. Preston is a trailblazer in the field, and we are blessed that he still touches lives in this school every semester.
