The Student Government Allocation Fund. The Student Government Allocation Fund (SGAF) is a financial resource available to those seeking to create a University-wide impact through campus improvement projects, social events, educational causes and charitable endeavors.

It is the purpose of the SGAF to be used in a way that promotes the interests of the student body and ensures that the needs of Baylor students are met. Student Senate appropriates the SGAF each semester on a merit basis to Baylor-affiliated students and organizations who are able to effectively demonstrate that their project, event, educational cause or charitable cause will benefit the Baylor campus.

Each student contributes $5 per semester as a part of their tuition fee to the Student Government Allocation Fund. This adds to approximately $60,000 for the Fall 2009 semester. Student Senate has sole appropriating power as to whom this money is to be allocated. Individuals and/or organizations may apply for these funds. To do so, please click on the above link, fill out the form, and submit it online to Student Senate. You may also bring a copy of the form or additional materials to the office of the Internal Vice President in the Student Government office (located on the fountain side of the SUB) (E-mail: Michael_Wright1@baylor.edu). Someone will contact you soon after you turn in your Allocation Request Form. Listed below are the guidelines used to determine how, and to whom, funds are distributed.

Student Senate Bylaws

"º4.6 Allocations from the Student Government Allocation Fund. Parties or representatives seeking funds must complete a request form to be provided by the Student Senate. The form must be attached to the legislation as an addendum. Funds shall be allocated only to student organizations or individual students affiliated with Baylor University and subject to its authority. The organizations or individuals must demonstrate that the program, project, or idea will either be aimed at the campus as a whole; or that the program, project, or idea is aimed at community service or aiding a charitable cause. Funds may be allocated each semester for an event or activity, so long as all criteria for Student Government Allocations are satisfied. Funds may be allocated regardless of organizational or individual budgetary contribution. The Student Government Allocation Fund shall be recognized for allocations in a visual manner. This shall be the responsibility of the organization or individual receiving allocated funds. The allocation may not solely benefit the sponsoring organization or individuals, nor shall the funds be used to offset costs for the purpose of satisfying the individual's or organization's desire to raise funds by means of the event or activity, unless all attained funds are to be donated to a suitable charitable cause. No more than 50% of the semesterly income to the Student Government Allocation Fund may be allocated toward service-oriented programs. All allocations must be voted on by roll call vote given by the Legislative Secretary; this rule may not be suspended."
