What is Verification?
Verification is a comparison of 2012-2013 FAFSA information with 2011 IRS Tax Transcripts(s) and other external documentation.
Do I have to complete the verification process?
Yes, if you are interested in receiving federal, state, and some types of university aid.
No, if you do not want to receive these types of aid. Contact Student Financial Aid to let us know if you do not plan to complete verification.
What do I need in order to complete verification?
If you did not use the IRS Data Retrieval Match Process:
- 2011 Student (Spouse) IRS Tax Transcript(s)*
- 2011 Parent(s) IRS Tax Transcript(s)*
* Do not send copies of 1040, 1040A or 1040EZ. These are no longer acceptable verification documents.
You may be required to send in signed statements regarding your household size, number of students in your family who are attending college and child support paid. If you received food stamps, you must provide a copy of the letter you received from the issuing agency.

Whom should I include in college?
You may include others only if they will attend, at least half-time in 2012-2013, and are enrolled in a program that leads to a college degree or certificate but do not include your parents.
If your parent(s) attended college in 2011, please have them complete and submit to our office a Parent Enrollment Verification Form located at Parent Enrollment Verification Form.
I paid child support in 2011, are there special instructions?
Yes, a statement including the amount of child support that was paid, the name of the person to whom it was paid, and the names of the children that the support was paid for, must be completed, signed, and returned to our office.
I received food stamps (SNAP Program) in 2010 or 2011, are there special instructions?
Yes, a statement including the list of names of who received the food stamp benefit and how long the food stamp benefit was received must be completed, signed, and returned to our office.
