National/International Award Recipients

The faculty of the College of Arts and Sciences is actively involved in helping outstanding students prepare for national and international scholarship competitions. This year's award winners include:

National/International Scholarship Winners

2006 - 2007

Kenneth Ike Named 2007 Truman Scholar (See Lariat article). Ike, a Houston native, plans to attend medical school and will complete a public health degree afterward. He is participating in the Honors Program, the University Scholars Program, and the Baylor Interdisciplinary Core.

Ashley Peterson, Meghan Merchant, Brittany May, and Ana Thomson Named 2007 Fulbright Scholars Three Baylor University seniors and a 2006 graduate have been selected to receive the Fulbright Scholarship for the 2007-08 academic year, bringing the number of Baylor students who have received the prestigious honor since 2001 to 11.

Joy McCullough Selected as 2007 Fulbright Scholar to Finland Baylor University has added another Fulbright Scholar to its growing number of students who have received the prestigious honor. Joy McCullough, a recent University Scholar graduate from Los Alamos, N.M., will study aquatic toxicology in Finland beginning this fall on a Fulbright Scholarship.

Gary Guadagnolo Awarded State Department Language Award to Study Russian in St. Petersburg, Summer 2007

Gary Guadagnolo, a junior University Scholar from Arlington, has been awarded a prestigious U.S. Department of State Critical Language Scholarship, which he will use to study Russian in St. Petersburg this summer. Guadagnolo was one of 30 award recipients from more than 550 applications.
