Welcome to the Baylor University Department of Risk Management webpage. We support Baylor's Vision 2012 by offering a wide variety of services to all students, faculty, staff, alumni and visitors of Baylor University including programs in all areas of safety, asset protection, compliance and insurance.

Due to Baylor's continued growth and the adoption of Baylor's long-term vision, "Baylor 2012," the Office of General Counsel along with the Vice President of Finance and Administration collaborated on the establishment of a formal risk management department.

We set our sights on a culture of prevention throughout the organization, seeking to involve all parts of the university in moving beyond simply responding to events, but taking responsibility for individual opportunities to evoke change. Our goals are: 1). to provide service, support, and safety to every member of the Baylor family and 2). to educate faculty, staff and students so they can be a part of the Enterprise Risk Management process. This will engage each department on campus to identify, analyze and control the risk of loss (physical, financial, reputational) in their specific areas and that could impact the Baylor community.

Risk Management addresses many areas of safety and prevention: Environmental components such as radiation safety, fire and occupational health, air quality, waste disposal, and conformity to regulations and standards. We also protect Baylor's financial and reputational vulnerabilities through contract services, insurance programs, claims handling, crisis management and business continuity.
