AEA Conference Follow-up

April 29, 2005

If you attended the recent Aviation Electronics Association Convention & Trade Show in Dallas, I hope you had the opportunity to visit the Waco Aviation exhibit area, held in collaboration with Baylor University, Texas State Technical College-Waco (TSTC) and McLennan Community College (MCC). These three higher education institutions and the City of Waco are actively pursuing aviation and aerospace development within the greater Waco area. Home to over 1000 aviation companies within a 500 mile radius and centrally located in the heart of the Texas manufacturing and technology corridor, Waco is a prime location for the aviation industry. Just 90 miles south of Dallas and 100 miles north of Austin, the city of Waco offers three regional airports utilized for commercial, business and general aviation, and with access to the Interstate 35 corridor and the proposed Trans-Texas corridor.

Baylor University offers a variety of opportunities in the expanding fields of aviation, avionics, and aerospace through numerous education, research and workforce development initiatives. Collaborative education and interdisciplinary research programs, both within Baylor and in collaboration with TSTC, provide a unique venue to train and educate new and existing company personnel through programs in aviation, atmospheric chemistry, physics and space studies and computer science and engineering.

One objective of the Office of the Vice Provost for Research is to facilitate and promote research collaborations with industry, benefiting companies while advancing the academic mission of Baylor University. We are dedicated to expanding our relationships with companies through sponsored research and cooperative partnerships that meet the needs of our industry clients and the goals of our faculty. Baylor University also provides established and relocating families an opportunity to educate students in a serene, private university setting.

If you would like to learn more about how Baylor research and the educational alliance of Baylor, TSTC and MCC can benefit your company through research and workforce development programs, please contact me today.
