Office of Research Compliance
Baylor's Office of Research Compliance provides support to the Baylor research community to ensure all research activity complies with applicable government regulations, guidance documents, and funding agency guidelines. We help Baylor faculty, staff, and student researchers navigate research requirements through education and quality improvement initiatives designed to facilitate research, improve efficiencies, and ensure regulatory compliance.
The university's Human Research Protection Program
protects the rights and welfare of people who participate in research at Baylor.
The IRB is an integral part of this program.
Baylor's Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee works with researchers to ensure
compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and standards pertaining the use of
vertebrate animals in research and teaching.
Baylor's Institutional Biosafety Committee oversees all recombinant DNA research at Baylor and ensures that all such
research is performed in compliance with biosafety guidelines and requirements.
Conduct of research at Baylor must be in a manner that upholds high ethical, moral and professional standards,
must adhere to all applicable all relevant laws, regulations, and funding agency requirements, and be fully
consistent with the university's Christian mission.
Conflict of Interest
Baylor requires and expects all employees to be aware of both actual and apparent conflicts of interest and
to report any and all such conflicts as soon as they become aware of them to facilitate appropriate management.
Baylor's Office of Export Compliance assists researchers in complying with the body of import/export rules,
regulations and laws that apply to their work.
