The Theology of Creation: Genesis and the Ambivalence of the Cosmos in Genesis 1-9
In times of ecological crises, but also in the wake of debates about creationism, the topic of creation has gained widespread attention in the past decades. Moreover, the term "creation" even found its way into legal documents like state constitutions. There is a significant gap, however, between the popular understanding of "creation" and the biblical notion of "creation." This lecture explores what "creation" means in the biblical book of Genesis and why this biblical concept might be more interesting than its modern reformulations and adaptations.
