The Baylor Context
Baylor University has a student population of 14,000 with approximately 600 faculty members. In the Baylor Graduate School, over 1,000 students are enrolled in the numerous master's and doctoral level programs.
Part of the newly formed Big 12 University conference, Baylor University has a large College of Arts and Sciences as well as Schools of Music, Education, Nursing, Business, and Law. Facilities on the 432-acre campus are extensive and include a football stadium, a basketball and general arena, several museums, several large and small concert halls, two theaters, and intramural sports facilities including tennis courts, gymnasiums, exercise facilities, a pool, and racquetball/handball courts available for student use.
Baylor University is a Baptist University and faculty are recruited for having a Christian orientation. The University has a long history of providing excellent professional education; its origin in 1845 was to provide community leadership in many professions for the new Republic of Texas.
